The Long Island Bluegrass Quartet (LIBQ) is a new acoustic music group from the Long Island New York area. Although the band is relatively new, it's members draw on years of experience professionally playing acoustic music in other venues. The band features a wide variety of both vocal and instrumental music, featuring fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar. The styles of music we play include traditional, old-time, Irish & Celtic, folk, bluegrass as well as original material. Whether it is entertaining at a private party, concert, or social event, LIBQ will do our best to provide our listeners with an enjoyable and professionally delivered experience.

We want you to have as much fun listening to our music as we are having making it!

He skillfully plays both mandolin and fiddle in the band (but not at the same time), and sings lead and harmony parts. He helps keep bluegrass going locally, running a monthly jam session for the Bluegrass Club of Long Island in Smithtown, NY. Bill lives Setauket, NY.

George Cannova - George originally studied Jazz guitar for many years with Billy Bauer, but gravitated to Bluegrass after hearing Tony Rice and now has 25+ years playing experience. George sings lead and harmony parts for the band and also plays mandolin as a second instrument.

Julie Cannova - Julie has been playing bass now for over 6 years. A former dance and aerobics instructor, Julie brings a strong rhythmic sense to the band and makes sure the rest of us keep the beat! Julie and George make their home in St. James NY

maria - photo

Maria Fairchild - Maria started playing the traditional Appalachian clawhammer banjo style when she first heard old-time music years ago at the Guitar Workshop in Roslyn, NY. She has performed on both coasts, in England, and in Canada. She is also an accomplished square dance and contradance caller. Maria sings lead and harmony for the band, and she lives in Kings Park, NY.
